DIX (Dealer Index)

A daily dealer-sentiment series published by SqueezeMetrics that estimates the share of dark-pool volume traded on the buy side, used as a proxy for institutional positioning.

Also known as:dealer indexsqueezemetrics dix

DIX is published daily by SqueezeMetrics and represents the proportion of dark-pool short volume relative to total dark-pool volume, inverted so that high DIX indicates buying. It is one of the most-cited free dealer-positioning signals available to retail traders.

ChartGEX's DIX divergence score

ChartGEX displays the raw 90, 180, 365, and 730-day rank and adds a magnitude-weighted divergence score that compares DIX direction to same-day spot direction. When DIX rises while spot falls (or vice versa), the divergence score flags a potential mispricing of institutional sentiment versus realized price.

The divergence score fails closed: if same-day spot price is not available within the required window, ChartGEX returns no signal rather than approximating, to avoid false positives during data outages.
